Snakes and Mailboxes

written November 24

So this week was great! We got a lot done and found a new area to work in called Windy Hill. It's a ton of little houses on the sides of this big hill! We hiked around for an hour and got over 15 contacts! That's a contact every 4 minutes! :) It was great. We met a lot of very interesting people to share the gospel with!

We also had a really great lesson yesterday with the son of a less active lady in the branch. There was a drag race going on just behind their house and so it was super loud with music and squealing cars but, miraculously, he was still able to feel the spirit as we taught about the Restoration! He got goose bumps! So that was a blessing.

So crazy West Indian story of the week. We were contacting and found great success so we decided that we should spend some extra time that we had visiting a less active girl in another area. Driving over there we passed by a 15 year old recent convert's (Joshua) house and all of the kids (mixed with one adult) were out in the front excitedly crowded around something on the ground! So naturally, we stopped to see what was going on! Turns out there was a little snake in the yard! All of the kids were screaming and getting close and running away and it was chaos! Joshua's mom was yelling at him to kill it or move it because all of the kids were going crazy so he looked around for something and grabbed... the mailbox!

It had fallen over a while ago and so it was just laying on the ground so he grabbed it and smashed the snake with the mailbox post! Ha! All of the kids were grossed out. This is the second snake killing I've seen on my mission! :) When everyone had calmed down We drove to the less active girls house. She wasn't home so we drove back and saw Joshua and all of the kids in the street lighting something on fire. So, again we drove up to see what was going on. They were burning the snake! And all of the kids were dancing around it and being super goofy! No big deal, just dancing next to a burning snake on the side of the road. Ha! It was great.

Anyways. That is all. I love you all and hope you have a great Thanksgiving! We get to eat at the mission home today since it's p-day!
